The Lakeland Hills Elementary PTA in Auburn annually hosts an auction to help raise money for our school. This year we are holding the auction on Saturday, March 5th, 2016, with a goal to raise $15,000 with 200-300 in attendance.
The money earned from the auction will benefit all of the children who attend our school, currently 700 kindergarten through 5th graders. It will help fund learning materials and all of the educational field trips scheduled for this year. Some field trips include the Washington State History Museum, the State Capitol, Seattle Children’s Theatre, Junior Achievement and the Point Defiance Zoo for our younger grades and Camp Auburn for our older students. We find that students learn quite a lot from field trip experiences. In particular, enriching field trips contribute to the development of students into civilized young men and women who possess more knowledge about art, have stronger critical-thinking skills, exhibit increased historical empathy, display higher levels of tolerance, and have a greater taste for consuming art and culture.
